This Second Empire Victorian mansion stands for the magnificence of the Gilded Age. It takes on a whimsical look juxtaposed with the trappings of the modern era -- the light post, the SUV. We are very lucky here in my hometown of Buffalo, N.Y., that the mansion survives to see the 21st century. For years it stood crumbling -- then its ship came in, and it became the Mansion on Delaware, an award-winning boutique hotel. I had great fun sketching it one morning on my way home from Mass. Mary Kunz Goldman is an artist who lives in Buffalo, N.Y. She is the author of the book "Sketches of Buffalo." Mary is also a writer and is the author of "Pennario," a book about her experiences taking down the memoirs of the great Grammy-winning concert pianist Leonard Pennario. The book is scheduled to be published in 2024. An accomplished classical pianist herself, Mary has competed in the Van Cliburn Amateur Competition for Outstanding Amateurs. She is also a singer and can be heard most Sundays in the choirs of St. Louis Church and St. Anthony of Padua Church, where she sings for the Latin Mass.
